First pattern cutting session of 2018

So I should be in GayParis with my Designer partners in crime and if I’m honest I’m feeling a little like Cinderella working through the weekend, and it’s cold and snowing to boot (well sleet, which is even worse). I did have some #metime yesterday which was soon filled with 2 hours of gym classes #combat & #pump , an hour and a half of singing, an hour of supermarket shopping and an hour of cooking, but the office and the workrooms took me as a slave from late afternoon on Saturday through until now. Less a sleep, obviously. Anyway, I’ve moved a mountain of paperwork and got on to my first pattern cutting session of 2018, taking advantage of space and quiet in the workrooms on a Sunday. Pictured are templates in progress of some swags and tails for a beloved #WestEndTheatre which will go into production this year. In the top left image you can see where I’m trimming back the tail template to soften the ‘snake’ line at the leading edge. #Faffingarounduntilitsperfect. These will drape over gilded reeded curtain poles with dress curtains hanging from behind. At least I’ve traded my Sunday for working in the theatre, my first love, #noplacelikehome #behindthescenes #behindthecurtain and now I’m collapsed on a sofa, writing to you, and waiting for my husband to come home from the office (he’s been a slave to work too) for dinner. I’ve gone all veggie and vegan this weekend, inspired by Facebook friends posts: (butternut squash 2 ways, roasted with thyme, and puréed with curry and cumin, with a pea & mange tout risotto…… last night… was good girlfriend) and by……of all things……a recent midweek on the road Waitrose vegan sandwich, from which I’ve come up with tonight’s dinner which will be a Mexican ratatouille with sweet potato and chipotle, Mexican style rice and cob corn roasted with butter and olive oil, and rolled in mayo, paprika, squeezed lime and pecorino (the corn idea is from #laEsquina NYC, a favourite when we,re there) . I really fancy a margarita now…..
